What happens to the file?
We push the file you select through the hashing algorithm on your local browser (the file itself is not uploaded to our server). Then the hash result is send to us for comparison with our list of known hashes, and you get the result information back. The hash is generated using CRC32 algorithm, in order to be compatibile with the way Plutonium is generating hash of loaded files. You can get a hash of both compiled and uncompiled files, but keep in mind - it'll be different. Why can't i upload a file for analysis?
Currently that option is hidden on mobile, as it's unlikely to be needed and saves some valuable real estate. We can re-enable it in the future if there's a demand for it, in the meantime try it on your PC.I only have the hash itself
Perfect, use the input box above to request information from our server about that hash (if it's known to us) without the file. How does this help?
Comparing file hashes is a nearly perfect method to make sure contents are exactly what someone claims them to be. You can use this service to compare hashes displayed by newer versions of Plutonium (of both user patches like
Black Ops II Community Patch as well as checking actual game files) to confirm there were no replacements/injections taking place.
