Rules
Community maintained rulesets for Call of Duty: Zombies
Full gameplay is MANDATORY. Small amounts of missing footage because of a stream cutting out is fine - as long as no crucial moments in the game are missed.
You can avoid missing footage by recording at the same time.
This rule is very broad, but it applies whenever you cannot find an information about something specific. In some categories, you'll find rules that are essentially a duplication of this one, but for something specific, this means, the community discussed that one specific thing.
Emulator definition ambiguity
This rule technically makes playing on Linux unlegit, because the game is ran through an emulation layer. This has never been enforced, but the rule has not been updated either.
BO1 explicitly voted in:
sv_cheats DVAR to 1 is NOT ALLOWED unless otherwise specified.
Substituting a player in a coop game is NOT ALLOWED.
Substituting a player means a different person joining for another session within the same game, the same set of players need to play throughout the entire game.
| Platform | Rule |
|---|---|
| Steam | NOT ALLOWED |
| Plutonium | REQUIRED FOR PC |
| Redacted | NOT ALLOWED |
| Xbox 360 / One / Series | ALLOWED |
| PS3 | ALLOWED |
| PS4 / PS5 | ALLOWED |
| WiiU | ALLOWED |

Plutonium is REQUIRED for runs on PC. You MUST be on version R5246 or above.
This was done to prevent cheating and for further enforcement of the rules.

Version constraint:
B2OP Version 4.6 or higher
Covering Plutonium anticheat output on the gameplay is NOT ALLOWED. The output is the text in the upper right corner on the screen, and list of checksums listed in the upper left part of the screen every few rounds.
Check your stream overlay alignment BEFORE starting the game, make sure it does not cover any of important information on the screen.
These are the protected elements

There is also a separate hash output on the right, underneath the watermark. Covering this does not disqualify your run at this time, but it's recommended to keep it visible, to avoid controversy in the future in case it becomes necessary to validate games.
Vote
This is agreed on by the majority of active players, however we don't know of any recorded votes about this topic.
Constraining the values was never properly discussed, so any value accepted by the engine is allowed. We recommend sticking to 65-120 effective FOV until that changes, as FOV directly affects bleedouts.

Vote refers to Mob of the Dead and Buried, as at the time those were the maps where OOB would be used for the most, however the ruling applies to the entire game.
Solo-Op is ALLOWED via the following methods:
- Connecting from multiple instances of the game from the same computer
- Two people physically controlling the game at the same time

This rule also permits animated camos, as long as they don't require loading custom GSC/mods
Maintainer note:
Players voted for allowing this in Local play as well, this was done so people can take advantage of reduced graphic content as well as to hibernate PC on Redacted. Both of these concerns have since been addressed by Plutonium natively (reduced graphic content toggle was added to the menu and hibernation was fixed), therefore the official patch does not implement this.
Fixed Backspeed is ALLOWED.
This rule permits modification of player_backspeedscale and player_strafespeedscale dvars up to a value 1.0
Fast Knife exploit is ALLOWED.
Fast knifing is holding the fire button and then knifing rapidly
The sound REF leak fix is ALLOWED.
This fix is automatically enabled as of Plutonium version R5260.

Bypassing the 25 day Black Screen is ALLOWED.
BIOS method is allowed, but as of Plutonium R5260 it can be done with the command cl_fix_25day_blackscreen 1

Equipment counters are ALLOWED.
Equipment counter is a value incrementing whenever players get a new piece of equipment from a crafting table
Stats manipulation is ALLOWED.
Bank and fridge weapon, state of the player between map reloads.
The use of the pause_hard command is ALLOWED.
While being very helpful for World at War and Black Ops 1, we know of cases where it caused Black Ops 2 crash, we therefore recommend to not use it for the time being.
Changing any settings in a Custom Game menu is NOT ALLOWED.
Default options are:
| Option | Value |
|---|---|
| Starting round | 1 |
| Magic | Enabled |
| Headshots only | Disabled |
| Hellhounds | Disabled |
Automatic trap timers are NOT ALLOWED.
Automatic trap timer is a timer that reads trap cooldown state from the game directly. Timing the trap manually is ALLOWED

Abusing the re-connecting to bypass gameplay restrictions is NOT ALLOWED, this includes:
- Reconnecting with persistent Jug (Mini-Jug) enabled past round 14
- Manipulating weapon or ammo count in the fridge between sessions
- Qutting during specific setup steps to trick the game into evaluating the session as solo, like disabling Quick Revive elevator on Die Rise
The vote was only about Die Rise, but because it's the only one window in Black Ops 2, we consider the result to be game wide.

Insta-kill Helmet zombies are ALLOWED
This was always a thing on consoles, however on PC it was handicapped by the GSC health fix patches. With native engine fix by Plutonium for zombie health, the original game behavior is restored

The detail that's missing from the vote result is the elevator restrictions are exclusive to No Power, as that's the only instance when you can't travel the floors without using these glitches. It's been confirmed with the vote administrator.
